Super-smooth Burnley busman Jim takes the fast lane to awards success

His passengers say his driving is “super smooth” – and Burnley busman Jim Moodie has won a top award for his first-class service to East Lancashire.

Staff from seven Transdev bus companies across the North of England, including The Burnley Bus Company, voted for their favourites to make the shortlist for the company's third annual Amazing Awards.

And as colleagues from the town's Queensgate Bus Depot cheered, it was Jim who made his way to the winners' podium last night to receive the coveted Driver of the Year award.

Jim and the Burnley team joined over 130 nominees and their partners from bus depots across Lancashire and Yorkshire at the prestigious awards presentation evening, held at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford.

Alex Hornby, CEO of parent company Transdev in Lancashire and Yorkshire, said: “Flawlessly smooth driving and an eagerness to please customers make Jim a worthy winner of one of our most hotly contested awards.

“He devotes a lot of effort to make sure his customers feel welcomed when they board his bus, and that's won him praise from his regular customers who love travelling with him.

“The high standards set by everyone on the shortlist for this year's Amazing Awards made choosing all our winners a challenge but one we, as a team, certainly enjoyed.”

The winners of the seven coveted Amazing Awards were each directly nominated by their own colleagues – and selected from a shortlist of the company's finest teams and individuals.

Alex Hornby said: “We believe in three things – employing people who are happy to work with us, serving people who are proud to be our customers, and creating a business which is innovative and successful. Those core values shine through in every one of our Amazing Awards winners – we're proud to celebrate their passion, performance and pride in delivering an outstanding service, every day.”
